AgeWell Senior Living has been recognized by Senior Housing News as an Operator to Watch, highlighting the organization’s continued growth, strategic vision, and commitment to building a strong foundation for the future.
The recognition comes during a period of significant momentum for AgeWell. Since rebranding as AgeWell Senior Living earlier this year, the organization has continued to expand its management portfolio while remaining focused on operational excellence, leadership development, and creating exceptional experiences for residents, families, and team members.
Today, AgeWell Senior Living serves 38 communities across the country, with additional growth anticipated through new management partnerships. As the organization continues to expand, its long-term vision remains centered on thoughtful, sustainable growth that prioritizes quality over scale.
"We've performed to a level that's past the norm right now, and because of that, we're getting a lot of interest in our platform," said David Mills, President and Chief Operating Officer of AgeWell Senior Living.
That momentum has led the organization to increase its long-term portfolio goal from 75 communities to 90 communities by 2031—a reflection of both the opportunities ahead and the confidence ownership groups have placed in the AgeWell platform.
Growth, however, has never been the end goal.
AgeWell’s operating philosophy emphasizes investing in people first. The company intentionally supports its regional leadership teams with manageable portfolios, empowering leaders to remain engaged with their communities while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional development. By developing leaders from within and scaling with purpose, AgeWell is focused on preserving the culture and operational excellence that have fueled its success.
"We don't want to grow to be one of the largest operators," Mills shared with Senior Housing News. "If we look at all the companies that have grown and failed over the years, they've all done something wrong. Most of the time it was stretching their team inappropriately, so the goal that we have is not to do that."
